Positive Mind, Positive Life, and Positive Bank Account: A Look Inside Machelli Garrick’s Mind
Here at Xcellent ATL our new year’s resolution is simple — appreciation. We are making an effort to share our appreciation for our stellar teammates by shouting it from the rooftops. Today’s employee shoutout is none other than our Junior Manager, Machelli Garrick. At just twenty-seven, Garrick has hit career goals and growth that many will only dream of, joining the Xcellent ATL team in January of 2020. The one year mark in any person’s career is a moment that calls for celebration. That’s 365 days of growth, leadership, and positivity from our own Machelli Garrick. Happy one year anniversary, Machelli!
Born and raised in Easley, South Carolina, Machelli Garrick previously worked in retail and never saw herself in a career like this. “When I was a kid, I dreamt of being a singer,” says Garrick, “after high school, I attended the Art Institute of Charleston, where I learned so much about myself. I learned about entrepreneurship and struggled financially, which taught me to be strong and overcome obstacles. I learned priceless life lessons and made forever friendships.” Some of her best qualities, however, cannot be taught. Garrick’s bubbly personality and sense of humor make her a genuine joy to work with inside the Xcellent ATL office, and those things are simply innate.
Since joining the Xcellent ATL team, Machelli Garrick has worked through a handful of promotions and developed unbreakable sales skills, succeeding as a trainer, interviewer, and team leader. “It can be hard to maintain a positive attitude in this job and in any job,” says Garrick, “but I am passionate about growth and helping others grow. I love to give advice and teach others the keys to success.” That growth, in fact, is the exact thing that attracted Garrick to this career. “My favorite thing about the business industry are the opportunities for advancement and growth. You can also take the business skills that you learn anywhere you go. These are very flexible and transferrable skills.”
What pushes her? What keeps Machelli Garrick going during the slow days? For this leader, her family is at the heart of her drive. “I am motivated by the idea of changing the lives of my family members,” says Garrick, “I want to help those in need and support the people I care about.” In the next few years, Garrick hopes to be a wildly successful entrepreneur with multiple streams of income. For future leaders that walk through the Xcellent ATL doors, Machelli Garrick has one piece of advice. “Find what you love and pursue it,” says Garrick, “build out your passions and grow from them. Look for the positives in life; positive mind, positive life, and positive bank account.”
